Old Business

  1. The Friends of the Library held their third meeting in conjunction with the Library Board meeting. They will usually meet the third Thursday of each month. Everyone interested in becoming a Friends member is welcome to attend. They are discussing movie night for Saturday, 10/18/08, at 7:30 pm. The sound man has been secured, the City has a popcorn machine; hopefully the City will also spray for mosquitoes. If not, we will use Kim’s personal sprayer. We will announce movie night on the library marquee, as well as try to get it announced on the city marquee.

New Business

1.      On November 8, 2008, the Santa Fe Historical Foundation will hold a volunteer fair. On October 16, 2008 at 6:30 pm, the Friends of the Library will meet to work on plans for the volunteer fair. Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting. Linda Coyle of the library advisory board made a motion for the board to pay the fee for the Friends’ group to attend the fair. It was seconded by Linda Courtney. The motion passed. A fee of $50.00 will be paid on behalf of the Friends group to have a booth at the upcoming Volunteer Fair.

It was also mentioned that the Friends group should hold a book sale at the fair, as well as have a donation jar at the festival to be used to purchase books for RJ Wollam Elementary library. Board member Kim also suggested the Friends group hold a bake sale at the festival. She stated that the journaling group might want to hold a bake sale at that time as well.

We agreed that we need to get a request for book donations up on the library marquee prior to the festival.

  1. The board’s next book sale will be in the spring of 2009, possibly on a Saturday morning at the Thelma Webber Community Center.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 pm. The motion was made by Sue and seconded by Linda Courtney.  The next meeting has been set for Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 12:30 pm.
